Our Programs

Practical support through food and connection

Our food programs provide more than a meal, they offer care, dignity, and connection. From emergency relief to school breakfasts and our mobile food van, we’re here to ensure families in the Illawarra have access to support, friendship, and hope when it’s needed most.

Food Pantry

Our free Food Pantry at Berkeley Community Centre is available to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity.

We provide a range of non-perishable food items and frozen, home-style meals, helping ensure people have access to nutritious food when they need it most. Whether you’re facing a temporary setback or ongoing financial hardship, we’re here to help, without judgement.

The Food Pantry is community supported, and donations make a real difference. If you’d like to help, donations of non-perishable food items can be dropped off at Berkeley Community Centre or Woonona Eyecare during opening hours.

Together, we can make sure no one in our community goes hungry.

Emergency Food Relief

When families face crisis, our Emergency Relief program provides essential food gifts with care and dignity. These parcels offer immediate support during tough times, ensuring no one in our community goes hungry while also connecting families with hope and pathways to longer-term help.

Meet Shellie – More Than a Food Truck

Shellie is the heart of Need a Feed’s outreach service, bringing free, freshly cooked, nutritious meals directly to people experiencing food insecurity across the Illawarra.

More than just a food truck, Shellie is a place where people are welcomed with kindness, dignity, and a friendly smile. Every meal served is an opportunity to connect, reduce isolation, and remind someone they are seen, valued, and not alone.

Each week, Shellie visits community locations where individuals and families can enjoy a hot meal in a safe and welcoming environment. Alongside nutritious food, we provide conversation, support, and connections to local services that can help people navigate life’s challenges.

Powered by dedicated volunteers and the generosity of our community, Shellie is helping ensure that no one has to choose between paying the bills and eating a healthy meal.

At Need a Feed, we believe food is more than nourishment, it creates connection, restores hope, and strengthens communities.

Every meal served by Shellie is made possible because our community cares.
